PRODUCT HIGHTLIGHT | Kansa Organics Massage Wand
Massage plays an essential role in the Ayurvedic healing system. In fact, the healing power of touch can be traced back to India as far back as 3000 BCE (or earlier). The Kansa Wand was born out of that belief, practice and love for massage. When it comes to facial, and body massage, we find this tool to be far more sophisticated than facial rollers and even Gua Sha tools. The reason for this is its history rooted in healing the mind and body and easy to use design. We find ourselves using it a lot more often than other tools, and adding it to our skincare arsenal has greatly improved our love for facial and body massage.
WHAT IS THE KANSA WAND? The Kansa wand is a small domed tool (shaped like a bell or a cup) that can be used to massage the face + body. Kansa wands are made with India’s sacred and healing metal (Kansa). The Kansa or Bronze is an alloy primarily consisting of Copper. The handle is wood, with ridges to help you grip the tool during massage.
WHY USE THE KANSA WAND? Kansa Organics introduced us to a selection of Kansa wands, with various sizes for different uses. You can choose to massage and relax your face, legs, back, and even your feet. The shape of the wand contours, and the metal feels smooth and soothing. It plumps, de-puffs, reduces inflammation, releases tension, promotes lymphatic drainage and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles. We can’t get enough of this tool and we thank Ayurveda for creating it.
The Founder of Kansa Organics, Puneet Wadhwani, gives us details about his brand and tells us why you should include the Kansa wand in your skincare and self-care rituals.
Cultivated: Tell me a little bit about what drew you to the beauty industry, and what made you launch with the Kansa wand?
PW: Ayurveda has been around for over 5000 years and recently growing on the western side of the world. Since I moved to the US, I’ve been seeing people finally engaging themselves in holistic wellness and adopting Ayurveda in their routines. I came across many new holistic wellness tools and products trending across the Internet, I realized with my knowledge and Indian heritage, I could introduce the KO kansa wand to the people and help them learn more about the ancient Indian wellness tools which have been in practice for centuries and never fails to bring amazing results and heal from within. Promoting my culture’s tools and helping people get to better health through Ayurvedic traditions means everything to me and our clients.
Bringing ancient holistic healing and wellness traditions to anyone seeking every possible way to heal and better themselves has been an amazing opportunity for me.
Cultivated: Where does the Kansa wand concept come from?
PW: The Kansa or Bronze is an alloy primarily consisting of Copper. In Ayurvedic Medicine, Copper is called the “healing metal” for its healing properties. This is the reason why it’s very common among Indian families to own home products mostly made of copper or bronze, as this metal has been incorporated in our daily life. While this was already known from ancient Indian medical practice, today’s experts have proven the metal’s antimicrobial mechanisms.
Cultivated: What are the major benefits of using the Kansa wand, in conjunction with your cleansing oil?
PW: The Kansa wand is cherished because it is said to balance the three Doshas, the Vata (Air), Pitta (Fire), and Kapha (Water). Doshas are energies in the body, and their alignment is key in influencing overall health.
Kansa massage nourishes the mind, body, and soul holistically. The Ayurvedic oil we use is specially formulated intended to balance the Doshas and brighten the skin. They are heavy, stable, warm, calm, and grounded made of power herbal extracts. It calms the mind and eventually replaces fear, lethargy, and anxieties which may also help induce a healthy sleeping routine.
The goal is to increase the Prana (life force), the healing energy of Vata, bring about our Tejas (our inner radiance), the healing energy of Pitta, and restore Ojas, (the ultimate energy reserve of the body), derived from Kapha.
As we use our KO Kansa wand, not only are we paying homage to an ancient ritual, we are also drawing out the acidity from the tissues, and improving the body’s natural electrical energy system.
Cultivated: How is your Kansa wand made and what are the materials?
PW: At Kansa Organics, we carefully build our wands with Kansa, the sacred bronze (a mixture of Copper + Tin) recognized in India as “the healing metal” to promote optimal health and well-being. We have two variants of the Kansa wand handle: the first one is made from mango wood and is colored dark brown; while the second one is made from teak wood which is colored lightwood.
Our wands are carefully handmade in India, as all our materials are originally from my country. KO Kansa wands are known for their ergonomic design having finger pads uniquely designed for longer use, especially for our working beauty and wellness professionals.
