The Well Excels At Creating a Community of Self-Healing And Opens a Costa Rica Experience

Urban wellness sanctuaries for stressed out New Yorkers are still too few and far between. We are adding THE WELL to our list of New York’s favorite places to unwind, and visit for a healthy lunch or a healing massage. The WELL on East 15th Street opened in 2019. We can all agree that the world and needs of the wellness community have changed since then. Surviving the pandemic and a brief closure, the THE WELL reopened in April with a new agenda – reaching a wider audience. Membership is no longer required and the brand evolved to meet client’s medical and fitness needs, casting a bigger net of inclusivity. This wellness space has a full-service spa, a robust medical practice, a Rest & Recovery Lounge, three yoga, fitness and meditation studios and a co-ed thermal suite.

If you find yourself in need of a special experience for you and your loved ones, THE WELL has created ‘After Hours at THE WELL’. The four-hour wellness retreat allows you to enjoy the space privately in the evening hours. The evening consists of a candlelit dinner for four at THE WELL Kitchen & Table, a 90-minute treatment of choice, a private thermal experience, and a curated collection of THE WELL Self Care line for the ultimate zen. Empowering everyone to take charge of their mental and physical wellbeing at their own pace is the responsibility of any wellness center, and clearly The Well excels at it.

If you seek a retreat from the city, THE WELL at Mayflower Inn & spa is happy to provide. THE WELL partnered with Auberge Resorts creating two holistic wellness destinations. The biggest news from THE WELL this year is the opening of their Costa Rica location. The destination, Hacienda AltaGracia, features 180 acres of lush Costa Rican land in the foothills of the Talamanca Mountains. Choose adventure and get away from it all while nurturing your body and soul with immersive experiences. Among them; a river bath, equine therapy and signature body treatments using local herbs.

Our Experience at THE WELL in New York

We stopped in on a weekday for a much-needed Swedish massage. Upon entering it is clear that this is so much more than a business, there is a sense of community that seeks a common goal – health. You are taken downstairs for your service and change into a robe and slippers (which you get to keep). The gorgeous changing room provides an exciting sampling of products for any of your grooming needs. Always arrive at least a half hour before your scheduled treatment in order to experienced the sauna and a steam room. We sipped on Ayurvedic tea in their heavenly lounge, forgetting the outside world while slipping into blissful relaxation. Our 90 minute massage was easily the best massage we received in a long time. It helped eliminate shoulder pain from sitting at a desk all day, but mostly helped keep the relaxing momentum going after we left. We cannot forget to mention the kitchen. THE WELL, designed by Rose Ink Workshop, serves an all-day menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, featuring nutritious and energizing food that utilizes high-quality, local and organic ingredients. The inviting interior beckons you to take yourself out for a solo meal while in the union square neighborhood. The takeaway? THE WELL helps you realize that investing in your physical and mental health is worth it!
